I just finished up the swap for a friend and we have got code 9. I have searched about this and found it to be either distributor or wiring problem. The motor idles and revs fine, took it to 6000 rpm so I know its not in limp mode.
My question is would you think it is the dizzy or the wiring due to the fact of not being in limp mode? Also all the parts for the swap came from a junkyard if that helps.

 

I believed code 9 is 1st Cylinder Position Sensor.. I might be wrong. I know for my DA9, that's what the code stands for. Anyways, if it is it then the cylinder sensor inside your distributor is either loose or defective. Take off the cap, module and check the connection on it. If the sensor is too loose, it's defective. Buy a used distributor or a new one and it should fix your code 9. I had this problem on my DA9 last week, ordered myself a new TD23U Distributor and it took the problem away.


You can always try removing your negative off the battery to reset your Ecu to see if it will go away or not. If not, the cylinder sensor within the distributor is defective..

 

Since you just to a MPFI swap, i would look at the wiring first. Try swapping the wires the you ran to the dizzy.

If it still throws the code then replace the dizzy with a known good one.

 

The old dpfi dizzy is almost brand new. I searched and have discovered the internals have the same part #'s. So can I put the dpfi internals in the mpfi dizzy?
