I washed my engine and now it wont run right.
Hello im new to hondas! Just wanna say hi to all on this awesome forum
So I just bought a 1998 Accord EX 3.0 V-tec V6
So I got to wash it down and clean the engine area and I use alot of soap and water to cool it down. I disconected the battery and all.
Soon as I plug it back up and start it its rumbling like crazy. I got to the local auto zone and I got a 2-3-4-5-6 cylinder misfire. WHAT THA HELL!
Sombody help!

Someone needs to help this poster resolve the problems of water soaked ignition parts.

Did you remember to cover up the dizzy with plastic and plug up the holes for the spark plugs. You can't get water on your distributor, you know. You should be safe with just those covered up if you et it dry completely after washing.
I've seen this quite a few times with my 'vette and even more with my Nova and it's points style ignition.
Pull your dizzy cap (distributor cap) and spray WD-40 into it LIGHTLY, WD-40 displaces water, so if you use it LIGHTLY (it's flammable) and then use a towel to soak up the water and WD-40, it should be fine, remember to use it LIGHTLY and you can even spray it into the actual distributor if you are careful, make sure you soak up all of the water and WD-40, and let it sit in the sun for a bit until dry.
Next step is to install everything the way it should be, and enjoy driving it.

Try going full on tune up. Dizzy cap, rotor, wires. hopefully you didn't get water in your intake when you washed your engine.
