OT. 396 69' Chevelle problems
Hey whats going on guys? Off topic , hope no one minds but im stuck in a pickle with helping my GM at the dealership. He has a 69' Chevelle with a 396 ls6 heads and what not and is having a vaccum problem. Brakes do not work, he says there is no vac. from the engine. The engine has been completely rebuilt by another tech, who does great work. Rebuilt one year ago today actually. No problems with compression, leakdown or anything. My boss says its a stock cam with stock duration and cant figure out why no vac. i suggested a vaccum can and he quickly shot that down. My only logical thought is the cam is not stock or the 1 way check valve is bad in the booster. Suggestions anyone?

this has nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with subject matter. i think youd get a lot more help in GDD because you'd have a larger, more varied audience.

Alright cool, sorry if this bothered anyone. Have a high opinion of most people here. Thanks guys. If the mods could move this to GDD that'd be great. thanks guys
I'm assuming the brake booster is clearly connected to a vacuum source on the intake manifold? There is no reason it shouldn't drawing vacuum if that's the case. What intake manifold is it? Stock? Edelbrock Performer RPM?
Could be a bad master cylinder, or bad booster... I'm assuming the pedal goes straight to the floor with no affect on the car's braking?
More information would be great.
