Default valve adjustments?

Hi there, I have a d15b7. I was recently over heating and came to the conclusion that it was my head gasket. Went to replace my head gasket but ended up over toruqeing one of the spark plugs.=/ so i just decieded to buy a new used head from the junk yard. bought one, slaped it in, and timed it, but yet when i thouhgt all was well, it seems like im back firing from the intake. sounds like popping pop corn. do i have a relay for one of the sets of valves? Vavle leaks? DOES ANYONE HAVE THE CORRECT MESSUREMENTS FOR ADJUSTING THE VAVLES? I already have a feeler gauge but i can't find the right messurements. any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks and have a good day.

i dont think it would be your valves. What head did you get for what engine? Is everything hooked up? Any CELs?

Check whether the cam and crank are synchronized properly at TDC and whether the ignition timing is set to spec.

to eg2driver: both the crank and the cam are at TDC but not exactly perfect. if i were to move the cam one tooth to make it exact TDC it would be more off then before. but other wise both TDC. and how do i set the ignition timing to spec???
