Default EK A/C Delete Panel

So i have a '00 CX hatch with no AC or PS. There is a plastic "guard" if you will next to the radiator. I was going to remove it but my buddy said it could help mpg. I figured it was just restricting air flow to the motor?

Can anyone elaborate for me?

i wouldn't think it would affect the MPG that much. I think you will get more damage from the grime and stuff hitting your engine bay. I'd keep it there. Keep a good tire pressure if anything.

Sounds reasonable. It gets good gas milage (38) so i'm not worried about that. I was only going to take it off to get better airflow to the block.

I'll try and get pics up as well.

They put it there for a couple reasons. It's there to keep junk out of the engine compartment (wet roads). It also acts as a barrier to keep the air going throught the radiator from "recirculating from the back side to the front. It does also keep the hood from fluttering as much at highway speeds.
