Default JDM B18C dyno results

Decided to do some base runs to see what my motor is making before I start adding parts. Was hoping for better results, but oh well. Here's the setup. I think the exhaust and header are killing me. Revved the car to 8200rpms, ecu is chipped to 8500. I have ITR valvetrain, but figured since I still had the stock GSR cams, why bother revving that high.

JDM GSR motor (10.6 comp stock)
Head milled .020 so comp should be 11.0
Skunk2 manifold
Ebay SRI
Ghetto OBX top half header bolted to ITR bottom half with 2.5 welded on
2.5 Carsound cat
2.25 piping with resonator out to N1 exhaust
Chrome ecu with ITR program
forgot to add, head also has DIY port job done by a friend.

We did 4 runs, first 3 we couldn't get a trq or a/f reading. Best of those 3 runs was 160, didn't print the sheet out. Messed around with a few things, finally got a a/f reading. But still no trq reading. And for some reason he couldn't get the dyno to read rpms.

Looking to drop the cat and resonator and make the rest of the exhaust 2.5. Looking to get a hytech replica header, add a velocity stack, 65mm tb. I have blox type b's, just waiting to get valvetrain. Then will tune as well. Should I go with the velocity stack on the SRI, or switch back to the Comptech Icebox I have? Thinking Of trying to rig it up so I can run both together.

Feel free to give som input. Remember this is untuned.

Well, considering its not even tuned and running lean, I would say more power is in there. Also, your graph is in STD (standard) horsepower... this typically reads a good deal higher then SAE.

seems ok to me...car is running rather lean for wot and should be alot of room for improvement on the dyno. throw some cams, better exhaust and possibly a CAI and tune the bitch! should make some pretty solid numbers.

Im just here to share my results, and get some input from people. Not to have my thread jacked by the cool kids.

This motor has potential but you gotta make some changes in your induction system (I/H/E and cams) and tuning.

numbers aren't that bad at all, but, u'd probably make better numbers on ur set up with a p72 im. with that said, its obvious that the s2 im is for the latter stages of build. a good tune alone, will bump everything up. i'm just curious what the wtq was

ya thats REALLY lean.

You should be more down in the 13-13.5:1 AFR area. It looks to hit as lean as 16:1 at WOT. I'd be in no hurry to beat on that until you can get it tuned. This shows perfectly the importance of tuning even for just a mild bump in compression and a few bolt-ons.

But for an otherwise stock internal'd GSR you're doing ok for a few baseline runs. Keep us posted on the results after the cams/tuning.

thanks for the replies. I have a B&M fpr, which I know most people say they suck. Would turning the psi up on that, would that help with the leaning out problem until I can get tuned? Or is that something that needs to be done through ecu tuning?

It would richen it up across the whole curve, yes... but is it the correct way to "fix" your problem? no. The problem is you won't know how many PSI to increase it anyways without the aid of a dyno or a wideband. I think you would be better off to sell the B&M and put the money towards some tuning. Your results will be significantly better in the end.

That's not a bad idea. I was probably going to bring it to you for a full tune once I got the cams in, and header.

You can even bring it in it's current state and see some decent power gains. The way it sits now is not healthy at all. I'm surprised the dyno operator did not shut it down when he saw the a/f's in that range at wot. Next time go to the casino if you want to gamble.

No, for some reason we couldn't get a trq reading. Wanted to know where it was at though.

My thoughts exactly. First 3 runs we didnt have a/f or trq reading. Did one final pull and got a a/f reading(glad that worked so now I know how lean my car is running) but still no trq reading.

only a/f and timing tuned this go round. Now with torque reading.
Wasnt concerned about power at the moment, just didnt want to keep driving around on lean status.

Hopefully put my cams in soon along with a new header and 65mm tbody
