Default SHOW ME A PIC where the VSS sensor is on my 92 civic DX PLEASE

I have used the search function, and I am being an idiot and cant seem to locate the VSS sensor in my 92 civic DX, I know its somewhere on the tranny, under the intake manifold? Does anyone have a picture of that little sucker? I need to change two of these. Thanks

Kris

top of trans, towards the back, right under the throttle body, has a plug w/ 3 wires coming out of it.

That pic is kind of small, any way you can get it bigger?

yeah bro its right under ur intake... if ur standin where the passenger tire is at, look directly under ur throttle body an ull see the plug... theres one 10mm bolt that holds it in... u can get it right from the top, no need to jack the car up at all..

when you put it back, do not torque it too much because you will break the bracket, its only aluminum. Just make sure its gudden tight

If this sensor goes bad, can it cause the speedo to cut in and out?

It most certainly and definitely will.. So will it also if the wires get corroded and/or dismembered from the plug ot other wires in that area... If you ever have speedo problems, and don't throw check engines at first, definitely check the speed sensor... Otherwise it could be that magically branded cluster thats like 1/1000 that the speedo just goes bad... But my $2 bucks are on your VSS...

yes it should, it would be code 17 if it DID INFACT throw a cel.... however, plenty of VSS's are known to go bad internally and seem fine to the ECU.... i've had it happen before, i've had friends with it happen before, and seen people on here that had it happen before, and besides when you know the CEL thats the easy diagnostic to the issue, try fixing something that doesnt throw a CEL like timing or fuel components lol, thats when it gets fun... but yes it should throw a CEL but it doesn't in all cases...

Mine at first did not throw a cel, the speedometer just starting wigging out flipping back and fourth. Then the cel came on about once every month or two, and lately has started happening more frequently. I have just bought 2 VSS sensors from formula91, thanks!! I cant wait to install both. Seems like an easy fix! I love my hondas!!!

yup its a real easy fix... just take off negative battery terminal, swap out VSS's, put battery terminal back on, and as long as the newer VSS is good, you're ready to roll... GL dude..

I was only able to change the top part of the VSS, because the bottom part wouldnt come out of the tranny. I was able to move the bottm part around but it just wouldnt come up. Im not a weak dude either....I made sure all of the bolts were out.

I changed the top part of the VSS and theproblem is fixed, no more CEL, and the odometer and speedometer and torque converter is locking into 5th gear now. all works fine.

but the old bottom piece remains in....ahh

yeah dude sometimes u do gotta like fubar that thing a lil bit back an forth while pulling up on it, but as long as u got that one 10mm bolt holding it in there, than ur golden cuz thats all that retains it to the transmission.. but as long as ur problems fixed id say dont even worry about it, it was probably just a bad plug on the top of the old one.. so good job...!!!

And so much for NOFX being "one of the nicest people on HT" cuz she got her lil behind banned somehow..!!!
