Wonderful smell of burning Ecu in the morning.
So i thought to believe my ecu was giving me the multiple issues ive been experiencing, so i replaced it with a chipped ecu done by a very reputable tuner on honda-tech. Well after replacing it the car ran great, drove it around my works parking lot for about 5 mins no issues. Well went back out later that day and tryed to start it and it just kept cranking. After about 2 secs of cranking i started to smell a burning smell, so i stopped cranking and searched for the source. turned out it looked like smoke was coming from my wiring or ecu. So unplugged the ecu and checked the wires at the connecting point of the ecu, then took the casing off of the ecu and noticed a wonderful black mark on the ecu. I dont know a whole lot about ecu boards so excuse the noobness, but right in front of the middle wiring connector socket their appears to be a large resistor/diode. Well at that resistor/diode connecting point it completely burnt through. So im at a lost, dont know if it was a fault ecu job, or something in the wiring i need to check for, but i didnt change anything inbetween the car running well and the point where it burnt up
its that big round one.thats why now when u buy a chip kit from moates it comes with that big round capsitor.if u know how to do the work your self i got a hand full of them sitting here ill send u one if u need it.but like 98vtec siad post a pic of the inside of the ecu let see what it looks like.
