You want to bracket race? Call your local track and see what day they run their bracket racing program. Most likely it will be saturday or sunday. Your set up sounds like you would run street class. Call the track and ask to speak to someone about it. They will get you going on the right track
Or go to the top of this forum and check out the sticky's the one with the schedule has a link to the rules.
Then check out the NHRA.com and IHRA.com sites and find a ton of info. You can get links to your local track where you can find more info.

you have the Sacramento raceway very close to you!! and this saturday the 31'st is the CMI North Vs South Event. you should go there and enter your car into the Bracket racing.. check out the heads up racing in between and you can decide if you want to build something to compete in some heads up classes. talk to some people in your neighboring pits. they are usually pretty open to discussing things and giving tips on stuff...
And you can win some money if your car is consistent!!!
Good luck!! there is a thread in this section about the race. heres the link

Since you are "just getting started" you can bracket race like they are suggesting. That makes you focus on the tree and actually driving the car better. Keep improving your car as your time/money allows you to and eventually you will have a more competitive car. See if you can find someone to help you spend your money wisely so you will be able to do more with it. Good luck and keep focused!
