Hawk HP+ pads ----> Squeeks?
Is it normal for the pads to squeek at any time? These pads are mated with Brembo OE blanks and I love the breaking feel but the squeeks made my car sounded like POS pinto. Any workaround on how to cure this?
Yep... I've got stock rotors with the HP+. I pull out of the driveway... the squeek. I stop at light... they squeek. I autocross... they squeek. I look at them funny... they squeek.
Yep, they dust like an SOB. Mine squeek, but not much at all -- I've heard them be louder on other cars. Great bite on these pads though, especially when you get them warmed up.
Oh yeah do these things squeek..
Poor gf just laughs at them. Even worse during the winter when it's next to impossible to get heat into them on the street. Once heated up though the pedal feel at least on my boat(Jetta VR6) is great.

You mean to tell me that all brake pads don't squeek?
Someone that I worked with several years ago told me I needed to change my brake pads. I asked him why he thought that. He said because the could hear them squeeking. I politely informed him that that is what higher performance pads do and that they had just been replaced. It was funny... really... guess you had to be there...

On my Prelude, they never squeaked but made grinding nosies when cold. Dusty as hell though... Also if you use them in the winter at temperatures well below zero, they will essentially eat through your rotors for lunch and ask for seconds...
I was driving a friends car that had these on and one of my friends was complaining about the squeeking. I tried to explain to him the reason for this and no amount of explaining could convince him. He was convinced they were just crappy brakes. . . . . . a quick check in my mirrors to see if there were any cars around and a mashing of the brakes quickly shut him up. "Man you weren't kidding, they really do stop well (as he rubbed his chest)"
I was trying to sell my Jetta at one point. Older guy came to look at the car for his son. He was driving it around testing various things out and what not. He then did a couple of panick stops from various speeds to see if the car stopped straight.
Needless to say he got the brakes heated up enough that they did what they were suppose to do and it freaked him out considerably when he jerked himself forward so quickly that his head almost hit the steering wheel. Then they started to squeal soon after and he asked if the brakes were ok.
Go figure...
Needless to say he didn't buy the car...
HP+'s performed GREAT at VIR back in Dec. Only "problem" I had was that they were a bit grabby at higher speeds(100mph). I kicked the abs w/moderate braking a couple of times.

Mine sqeauk at lower temperature... they stop great though...
I was thinking of putting my OEM pads back on the car in the winter (no autocrossing in the winter) to save my pads and rotors.

my HP+ made a lot of racket. They did stop decently when cold and quite well once they were mildly warm. Great autox pad. Died in about 2 laps at VIR North on my Integra though.
