Default Sprak Plug Reading

Hey guys I had the car tuned this winter, back in Feb. I pulled the plugs a few days ago and here is how they look. I know for best results you want to see them after a WOT pass but let me know what you guys think from these.

Cylinder #1

Cylinder # 2

Cylinder # 3

Cylinder #4

im not awesome at spark plug readings but no black specks on the porcelin which means no oil burning.

the tip looks like a light brown color which is good however im not sure what the deal is with it being a rich black and then a whitish color on the back of the metal prong? tip? or whatever the hell it is called.

The setup is listed here:

According to zealautoworks should be approx. 11.3:1 CR

Have you done a compression check. I ask because the white tips looks like coolant, I had this happen to me recently and found I had a failing headgasket.

What RPM did you shut the engine down at?

checking idle'd plugs really doesnt give much incentive to whats going on after idle.

kinda hard to tell but #4 and #3 look like there is too much ignition advance.

no signs of spikles of white or gray around the lower portion so no signs of detenation.. which is a good thing, i think its running a tad lean possible..other then that they look good.

It makes 255-265 across. Leakdown checked out. No white smoke out the exhaust. Coolant level hasnt moved in 4 months prolly 1k+ miles.

According to the PLX wideband it idles around 15.2-15.7:1. Cruise and light throttle its right around 14.7:1. I forget exactly what its at WOT.

Thats a tad lean.. not anything to be worried about but a tad lean.. and u should be more along the lines of 14.5 14.3 for crusing.. you dont wanna run too lean specially if u reach a bad batch of gas..
I'd suggest on the wOT you shoot for around 13.0 13.2

you can always just lean it out to the point of misfiring to find what AFR it takes to make it miss. Then add some fuel to it in case of a bad tank of gas. There really isnt a set afr to run at part throttle, imo, just general guidelines. Leaner the better unless it misfires. The engine will miss before you run into any devastating problems. Thats only for part throttle and idle tho. You can do these tests because at part throttle there really isnt enough cylinder pressure to cause any damage, especially when you can change it right away.

ZFR plugs are not for performance, more for a LEV vehicle. Use a plug with more a retracted tip FO DA WIN (FTW).

YA HURD!! FO-SHIZZAY!!

Not entirely sold on that one sir.

I have used ZFR plugs in my h22 ( what the OP has) and have had the best results on the track.

My father as well suggested a non projected plug so I used them and the car didnt run terrible but was a few tenths off my normal ets as well as a mph off the normal traps.
Swapped back to the ZFR-6s and went back to normal.

Just from my experience . .

Thanks for your input. Good discussion.

I always found that retracted tip works for me.

hmm what would be the benefit of a retracted tip and why exactly ?

Also wouldnt the non retracted tip add slightly to compression ?

Protracted tip plugs are more for lean burn motors. Is that your motor?
