Given it's proximity to Atlanta and the ECHC event that same weekend, seems like a good idea. I'd like to hear your thoughts about the course and what demands it will make on the car and first-time (virgin?) HPDEer. Thanks.

easy on brakes... hard on the right front tire.
first timer? your cherry will be busted with much force... bring some shop towels.
only 3 turns that could get you in real trouble... if you think and listen to your instructor... you will be fine.

Thanks Will.
All I ask is that you respect me in the morning...
Ok, I've got the course map in front of me. So which three turns are potential trouble?

Out of all the ECHC races, this is the track I am looking forward to the most..
Actually, I am yet unsure if it will be more fun driving or watching that weekend. I got a notion that there might be some stupid fast stinking cars out there in all classes (LMS seems to be a popular venue down here). Yummy!

Blake at OPM told me Tom is trying hard to get his prelude ready by then, along with another guy that races an ITS prelude.. Those cars should haul ***.....
Yeah, I heard the same.
I tried to prod a couple ITA/ITS guys at the last LMS event to come back up there - super nice guys so I hope they will join in the fun (in H3/H4).
I just hope my car doesn't slide down the track waiting for the standing start

aaahhhheemmmm! This is all well and good, but what about me (the lowly starter of this thread) and MY needs?
Seriously, most folks seem to be giving this venue a big
for this un-popped-cherry-track-wannabe. Molto grazie

I would suggest CMP or Roabling for the first timer (very little hard stuff to hit and a good mix or fast and slow turns), though from the way your drive an AutoX course, I think your driving skills are good enough for any track.
The 9/8-7 event is supposed to be HyperFest 2, so I am not sure what kind of HPDE there will be that weekend.

T1, T3A, T5
the Nascar #3-#4 could present a problem... but most n00bs will be well under 110 thru there the first few times around...
early clip 1, 3A (if that is the one leading onto the small straight), or 5 and you will find some very hard stuff coming your way.

i'm actually writing an article on the 1st timer HPDE...i'm not done with it but here's a simple list of what you'll need:
-water, water, water...bring lots
-bring some snacks...the track will have water and snacks but they are marked up
-a good 10' x 10' tarp (home depot) to set stuff on
-bring your jack and some jackstands in case you have to change a wheel or bleed your brakes
-bring brake fluid and brake bleeding kit ($15 total at autostore)...you could boil your brake fluid
-bring a large golf umbrella for rain or shine...or spend the money and get a poor man's canopy ($50)
-bring a chair or 3 b/c you'll want to sit down and people like to sit and talk ($7 each at target)
your car
-make sure your car has been inspected by a tech...checks tires, brakes, clutch, engine, etc...don't want to go out once and have the car die...that's a big waste of money
-pring painter's tape (home depot) and car wax...you'll need to put on 10" high numbers...put a good coat of wax on where the #s go and use the tape to make the #...rub off excess wax...once you're done the tape comes off easily and leaves no residue on the paint after you remove the wax

and I think you nailed the turns on the head. Can't even say how many guys crashed outside wall at turn 1 the last time I was there. I cannot speak for the guys with "IT type prepared cars with prepared suspensions" but in a SS car you really have to "drive it hard" down into the bank between Nascar 3 and 4 which immediately puckers your ***
I will probably be there in my Honda Civic Si SSC car in H4 unless someone has bought it by then. I figure if I take it with a for sale sign someone there will buy it
My car does well there as some of the SCCA guys here can attest.

Thanks for the thorough need to bring list!
I plan to play around in the Hyperfest activities such as the hyperdrive and time trials thing (no cage on my car to race it yet). That weekend should be off the hook!
