check to see if you pulled the speedo cable out of the tranny. youll need to put it back in and place the clip back on it. i lost mine and ended up making a new one out of a cotter pin.

On the rear of your transmission is your speedo sensor. Coming out of that is your speedo cable. You have to pull the boot up and make sure the cable is still snapped in securely. Try pushing down on the cable first.

Just pop the hood. You can follow the cable coming out of the firewall down to the transmission if you are unsure of its location.

you can check by putting a drill on the end of the cable using the chuck. then you can turn it on to see if it moves the speedo. that way you can tell where the problem is. id surmise you have it connected incorrectly at one end.

You don't even need a drill. Just pull the speedo cable out of the speedo sensor in the transmission and turn it by hand. It only works in one direction. Have someone in the car watch the speedo and see if it moves. I'm guessing that the speedo cable isn't quite all the way engaged at the back of the cluster or the end broke when you pulled out your old cluster. Really, the proper way to disconnect the cluster is to pull the speedo cable out of the speed sensor and that will give you the slack needed to get the cluster out and disconnect. First time I ever pulled a cluster I broke the speedo cable right at the back of the cluster.

yeah the old one i had on was back plastic part crack.yeah cuz i kept on forgettin to plug the back harness..i try to super clue it back on but it broke again.after that i did hear a whinning noise coming from the cluster.before it was workin good with old cluster until it was crack.yeah imma try to unplug the speedo cable from the tranny to see if that will work.thats the only problem i got with the new cluster.what if the speed cable were bad?do i have to remove the whole dash to replace it with new cable?

no, you can just feed it through the firewall, i believe. ive actually never taken it all the way out, but i think that it can just be pulled through.

I've replaced mine. It's a simple operation of feeding through the firewall. once you have your cluster out it's easy.

once you have installed the cable, make sure you positing the cable so it has the least amount of sharp turns when going from the transmission case to the firewall.... why??? because it would cause less friction inside the cable itself... making it last longer
