Default Car struggling at acceleration

Got into my car and left work. Got to the first red light and when it turned green I gave it gas rpm's dropped. So i floored it the car wouldnt go at all and then the rpms started to go up and down like a struggle. Then finally I heard a big pop from the motor then a freakin back fire I thought the motor blew up. But after that it worked all day long drove for about 2 hours on and off runing to strores. I dont know if its not getting fuel or the motor is junk.

I have the same problem first thing in the morning b4 I leave to work. Crank it up and the rpms go down like its gonna shut off and back up a little higher then stock idleing usely is.

its a 97hatch d16y7

O and I did do a search but no one had that pop sound like mine

I would possibly look into the ignition, start with the timing and see what that does.

I believe your problem with the idleing is the IACV... Idle Air Control Valve. Type in IACV in the search and check out all the people who have posted on here who have had similar problems and how they fixed it. As for the pop I would say random misfire or timing. I'm sure you could find out how to check timing on this website if you searched for it. Type in DIY timing check or something to that nature. Hope this helps.

Glad I could help. Yea you def should clean the IACV. And basic maintenance wouldnt hurt either. Even if it does turn out to be timing its not that bad to have your timing reset. You can search and figure out how to do it yourself or take it and have it done. Depending on how many miles are on your car you may want to have your timing belf replaced and they will set the timing then. Not that bad.
