Default am i [freak]ed?

i just replaced the headers on my 96 civic with some pacesetters. it only had one hold for the o2 sensor. my stock one had 2 so i've been cruzing for less than a day with my check engin light on. well i passed though one of those lovely emission cameras ( the big white ones on on ramps and such) i was wondering if i'm 110% boned plz help.

thanks

I dont have a clue what an emission camera is, but maybe i can ease your stress a bit. The first 02 sensor regulates the AFRs and in turn your hydrocarbon emissions. If your car was running correctly, you'll be fine. The second 02 checks to make sure the catalytic converter is working properly. You get a check engine light because the second 02 is telling your ECU that the cat is bad. I would suggest having someone weld an O2 bung on for you somewhere after the cat. That will clear up your CEL and give you some peace of mind.

Aren't those just for speeders and people who run red lights?? Anyway, i dont think a camera can accurately judge the emissions of a car on a roadway. From what i've heard (i really haven't a clue because ND doesn't give a **** what people do emission's wise) you have to be in a closed room so that there are no external contaminants to mess up the HC reading.

very true. i was kinda worried all this talk about emissions and such. where is the correct place to actually put the o2 sensor. the new ones only have space for one at thats towards the bottom of the headers right at the bend before they dump into the rest of the exhaust. any comments or suggestions are welcome! plz help

Lies. As far as I know, there is no way a camera can measure parts per million of the compounds in a single car's exhaust.

Have a bung welded after the cat so you can have a funtioning car (no CEL) again, and not have to worry.

yeah I was surprised no one realized you dont HAVE a cat anymore and that's why you have a CEL. You need to get a shop to weld in a cat THEN fab an O2 bung hole for you. Or you can invest in a header that incorporates a cat just like your OEM equipment. It's up to you though. GL with your car

It cost me $200 including the price of the cat and a flex pipe to have my Apexi exhaust welded up to my header after I did my swap. I had it done at Midas, took a little over an hour, and they let me watch fight club in the lobby.

</TD></TR></TABLE> dude you dont have HEADERS you have a HEADER you have an inline 4 with ONE exhaust manifold not a boxer or V-type motor that would have TWO exhaust manifolds AKA headers . and if the shop you went to didnt realize you dont have a cat dont go back who knows what else they would miss in the future.

So, why dont you just unplug the battery for about 20 mins to turn of CEL thats how we turn it off after running diagnostic at the shop.

Just in response to the "emission Camera" I dont think that it is a camera persa but here in texas that is a very big thing and they sit on the entrance ramps all the time and can detect your cars emissons and if it fails they can void you inspection sticker and send you a ticket in the mail. so yes they do exist but camera I dont think so.
