Are RC440 injectors known to go bad? I'm running on 3 cylinders.
I got a B18B with a JRSC setup, on RC440CC injectors tuned with Neptune. Stock fuel pump, stock fuel pressure regulator.
recently, my car has started running on three cylinders at idle. Once I put a load on the engine, it seems to go back to 4 cylinders and it drives normally. At high speed 4th gear pulls, it starts to bog and shake at upper RPMS. it didn't used to do this before.
The one big change that has happened is that I moved cross country from Arizona to Oklahoma. it was tuned at 2,000 ft and now I am at around 800 ft elevation. It has happened to me once before in Arizona, but has started doing it here this week, to a different cylinder. Obviously the car runs so it is getting spark. It has happened to a different cylinder here than in Arizona. I have checked the culprit injector, it reads 13 ohms. I have checked the wiring; the yellow wire reads battery voltage with the engine on, and there is continunity where I extended my wiring harness. I pulled the spark plug. it was in good condition, but bone dry. so that leads me to believe it is a fueling issue.
Again, when I am driving, the car seems to behave like normal during regular driving with some issues on WOT. at idle, it loses a cylinder sometimes. Sometimes I start up the car and it is on three cylinders. no CELs thrown.
Things I could think may be the culprit:
-bad gas. I added fuel injector cleaner and I will try a different gas station. I am currently using QuikTrip.
- Some really weird wiring issue. But the injector clips are firmly inserted and I rechecked the connections multiple times. the only thing I did not check is the ECU wiring next to the ECU since I do not have a test harness.
-bad ECU. ECU otherwise works well, has been chipped by J-K Tuning, been working fine for 10 months.
- bad injector. I suppose I can swap two injectors around to try to narrow it down. But seeing how the dead cylinder has switched compared to the first time it has happened in Arizona, I'm not sure that is the issue.
Has anybody has this happen to them? Does anybody have any suggestions or other tings to check?
