Having trouble with holesaw ARGH!!!
Ok, so I'm trying to make the holes in my firewall for my relocated battery terminals (the ones from Summit) but everytime I use the hole saw adapter I break the drill bit and fuc.k up my firewall. What did you guys use and and links or pics of the tools so I can ask my tool guyy?
I have to think your probably breaking or bending the bit when it punches thru. Try drilling a pilot hole just slightly smaller then the bit on the hole saw which is usually 1/4 and then go easy and it will cut right thru

you don't really need to go that slow if you're just cutting through the firewall, but cutting oil works much better then WD-40 or anything like that
just don't be afraid of using plenty of oil, its cheap, will save bits, and cut your hole faster

put a 1/4" fender washer on the end of the pilot bit, this way when the pilot bit goes through the metal, the holesaw teeth will be covered by the washer and won't catch on the firewall as you go through. After you have your pilot hole remove the washer, and go slow like everyone is saying.
If it is a big hole, and you don't plan on making a hundred holes run the drill backwards. If the metal you are trying to drill the hole in is uneven and has bends in it the teeth will catch and snap off the pilot bit pretty easily with it going forward.

go slow, dont press hard, you are most likely getting the pilot through and breaking when the hole saw actually hits. i drill uneven metal all the time with hole saws, its just takes time
