Default broken timing belt

i started tearing into this motor i thought it just jumped timing but i can turn the crank pulley and the cam pulley dosnt turn. so does this mean the valves are bent? is there anyway to find out without pulling the head? aslo if they are bent can i just put another head on there or is the whole motor done??

Just take the valve cover off and then the upper timing belt cover. No need to remove the entire head to see if the timing belt is broken.

When you say you can turn the crank pulley and the cam pulley doesn't move.......can you directly see the cam pulley? If so you should be able to see if the timing belt is there or not.

with the timing belt off try and spin the cam gear and see if it moves freely. if its stuck and wont budge then you have a big problem. best case you can replace with a new head and get it back on the road again. worst case the valves tore up the tops of the pistons, in which case the whole engines pretty much toast.

Wouldn't it hit the top of the pistons?

depending on how close pistons are to the top it is possible that it may hit. but seeing as how your turning the cam gear by hand, your not going to do any damage. your not trying to make it do several revolutions, you're just trying to see if the cam will move somewhat and do it freely. If the valve bottoms got pulverized into the bottom of the head then the cam isn't going to budge.
