Default Having Problems with brand new B18 build

I am just getting into Honda tuning and I am having some issues with my car that I just recently purchased. You may have seen the car because it was posted on this website for sale. It is a 1990 civic hatch with a b18 swap, I am told it is called a poor man's ITR swap. It has a b16 fuel map. Also the suspension is from an integra. I really like the car but after the drive home it started to spew a lot of oil on my driveway. I am pretty sure that it is the oil pan gasket so that is not that big of a deal. However after dinner I was going to pull the car into the garage to see if the gasket needed to be replaced. When I started to car it started fine but when I push the gas it bogs and sputters and then revs when it fights to about 3000 rpm's. Does anybody have any ideas. Oh the engine bay is wire tucked as well so I'm assuming most of the wires are not in the standard locations.

You do realize that it would take a fully functional crystal ball to know what your problem is, don't you? It could be wiring issues, valve timing problems, fuel issues, or ignition system problems, to name a few.

haha nice, and I do realize that and I have been talking to a mechanic and we have narrowed it down to the VTEC pressure switch and the Coolant Temp sensor. The ECU gave us the code for the pressure switch which apparently had a bad ground so we grounded that and then it gave us a code six which is the coolant temp sensor. So I guess I don't know what else I could ask but I'm all open to any idea's of how to fix it, where to get parts, how much they cost. Common other problems that people have with a build like this.

Datalog your ECT. You may have the connectors switched.

Ok so we fixed the problem with the ECT sensor now it is giving a Code 9. Any ideas, is there a list of things to check when a Code 9 comes up?

I'm fairly sure nothing is wrong with that because we took the top off and it is a brand new distributor. I mean brand new like it was taken out of a box and put on this car maybe a month ago. Could it be anything else?

you came here asking for help, take it.

code 9 is the CYP sensor, a sensor that can only be fixed by replacing the distributor or diagnosing a problem with the wiring and fixing it.

buy a helms manual if you intend on working on your own car.
