My gsr eats too much......................why?
Hey I got a 95 civic si with a 95 gsr swap. The other day I drove 3 hours and calculated that my civic is not even 25 miles per gallon. What can that be? and yes i did not drive it calm all those 3 hours but at the same time I did not kill it or give it too much gas. I was driving like 85-90mph and sometimes 100mph. What could I check to see if it works rite or something?

ok well I did not give it hard gas and btw most of the time I went like 75-80 but steady not hard

take a look at your RPM when you're doin 80-100 as compared to 55-60. take into consideration higher rpm = more gas consumption. 3 hours of consistent 3500+ RPM as opposed to 2500rpm is a MASSIVE difference. take the same trip doin 55 or 65 the whole way, you'll notice a drastic change.
::edit:: or just get a much longer 5th gear and keep your 1-4 the same, if you're really that concerned about it. you'd be cruising at 80mph with 2000rpm but it'd work hell of a lot harder to get up to that 80 unless you take 4th to it. just a thought.

I'm pretty sure there's no 5th gear in B-series that will see 80mph at 2k rpm haha...I had an LS tranny with the longest 5th of the b-series and at 80 that was pushing between 3500-3800 or so probably.
Definitely slowing down is about the only thing that will up the gas mileage considering the way it was driven. take the lead out

slowing down from 70 to 60 improves your gas mileage by 15% approximately. RPMs aren't the biggest factor, its the wind drag associated with the higher speeds thats the big part. 25MPG is hella good for those speeds. that 31MPG figure is calculated at 55 to 60 MPH average.

QFT. slow your roll. keep those speeds up and you'll have other problems than 25mpg (in)efficiency.
