Default miles per gallon sucks on my civic

Hey I got a 95 civic si with a 95 gsr swap. The other day I drove 3 hours and calculated that my civic is not even 25 miles per gallon. What can that be? and yes i did not drive it calm all those 3 hours but at the same time I did not kill it or give it too much gas. I was driving like 85-90mph and sometimes 100mph. What could I check to see if it works rite or something?

drive 65-70, i'd bet you'd see a decent improvement...and quit driving it hard and that should help.

You might need a tune-up. Any CEL's? my bro took the 02 and fuel sensors off the 95 dx and its mpg were crap. It may have just been your driving. when you bob the gas pedal, your fuel economy is out the window. try holding your foot as steady as possible, and try driving at 75mph or less. The time difference btwn 75 and 90 is very minimal, but the wind resistence is exponentially lower. Also, your tires may need more air. Seafoam helps greatly too-use it when you replace your wires, plugs, clean air filter and cap&rotor, time for oil change?, etc etc.

drive slower...don't hot rod it around for no reason, and keep it 70 or under

I'd put money down that you'd get better mileage.

I will try but the funny thing is that I did not floor it or gas it too hard I kept it at a steady pace at 80

it takes more throttle to keep that higher mph pace than a slower one, plus wind makes it worse like someone else said before.

If the easy driving doesn't help, then it might be time to do some more maintenance or check the tune since it's a swapped car.

good luck though

Slow it down a little bit. dont go over 70 and you will get way better gas milage also do a tune up. Plugs, Plug wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, new air filter, and i bet it will incress quit a bit.

Maybe your engine is doomed to have crappy mileage. I get 23mpg no matter how I drive. I've done the speed limit and under, and I've averaged in the mid 80s, and it doesnt change. i shift at 3000 and I shift at 9000 and nothing changes. You could also get a different tranny, or install an LS 5th gear into yours for cruising. I've been tempted to do that, the 4.7 final drive on this thing is ridiculous.

I get about 30mpg in mixed city/highway on a gsr swap in a 00 sedan, with gsr trans.

you guys have to be driving WAY too aggressive to get mileage that crappy.

what is it, 55 vs 70mph is double the wind resistance?

nah, all you did was [freak] the chemistry of your engine up. 2.5" you got a turbo? So your car stopped using as much fuel after allowing more air? any CEL's?

you just answered your own question.

driving at 85, 90 and 100mph does not give you better gas milage.

The first thing is speed. Most people do not know that the smallest difference in traveling speed has a very large effect on fuel economy. Traveling at 65 mph (104 kph) instead of 55 mph (88 kph) can waste 17% more fuel. That alone can add a few hundred dollars to your annual fuel bill.

That's what you're supposed to drive to get the best gas....tho I heard 55-60 b/c at 55 it starts causing drag and u should roll up the windows if its down.

Actually, the exhaust improvements make the engine more efficient and will almost always yield an increase in mpg. The intake is largely negligable.

you said you didnt floor it, thats just it you dont have to in order to eat up gas. negating higher wind resistance at higher speeds. the fuel effeciency goes down consideribly as rpm increases, even if throttle position is constant.
