i heard that some itr transmissions dont have vin#'s...is that true? i have a b16 with a itr tranny and i dont see the vin# on the tranny and was wondering if it was stolen. the motor was already in the car when i got it. and how can i tell if a motor is stolen?

 

JDM ITR trannies don't have VINs, USDM ones do. Does it look like the VIN plate was removed?

 

the surface where the vin is suppose to be is smooth but has like an outline like the shape of vin tag, thats what got me wondering if it was stolen and got tampered with...hard to explain, ill take a pic of it and post it up...anything on how i could tell if the motor is legit with no bill of sale?

 

Probably was stolen. Legit trannies wouldn't have the VIN tag grinded off.

 

i was thinking maybe i can buy a legit ls tranny and transfer the internals of the type r into it. i heard a couple of guys mentioning about a manual that shows you how to do the transfer but i cant seem to find it. you think its a good idea?
