engine wont start...need help
ive seen this done b4 with some effective results. i live in so cal long beach. whoever can get my car started, theres an instant $40 in it
b16a..........
i just got my head back from the shop after bending a few valves cuz the timing belt jumped. now i put it back together and the engine sounds like it wants to start but it doesnt. when it gets close, theres backfire. i checked my cams and theyre aligned correct. im getting A code 6, coolant sensor, but i dont see how that would keep the engine from starting. another thing was when i put the distributor back on, the little outside fork wasnt aligned with the camshaft. so i kinda made it fit. ive heard that it could be completely upside down, but i dont think it would even fit up like that. how can i really check? any ideas?? TIA

There's only one way for it to fit. The distributor and the camshaft have a fat line running almost down the middle, but it's offset so you don't have the distributor 180 degrees out of phase.
Since your hearing a backfire, there still has to be something off, in either the cam/crankshaft alignment or timming. It's sparking, while the valves are still open... Or something went wrong with the head rebuild, and a valve(s) are hanging open, and not seating properly...
i dont know if this is normal but when i tried to align the fork on the distributer, the fork would not rotate a full 360. it wouldnt even turn 180 degrees. it stopped like there was something stuck. could the rotor or somthing in the dist. be messed up?
