I Have a couple questions first.

I'm leaning on getting a 98-02 Accord within the upper range of 90k miles, is there anything I should be warned about? Or check out when I do go look at the car. Also, if and when I do get the car I know I will really want to lower it.

1. How many inches should I go?, I don't want it too low but still have that nice "lowered" look.
2. Lowering Springs or Coil overs? I don't have a $1k to spend on coil overs.(I realize this question is so redundant. I did read the STICKY)
3. Inexpensive Quality Brands?
4. Anything else I should know?

hmm i would lower it no more than 2inches to keep nice heigh, and ebaich make some really nice springs if u going to use stock shocks, and i would just add a k&n filter on stock intake tube instead getting a ebay KIT for same price, and if u going to daily drive it dont need a exaust, it be loud and waste gas,

 

You can probably do new adjustable dampening KYB AGX and a set of Eibach Sportlines for around 600 if you shop around, i did that for my 94 accord for about 550. Its a good ride, sits just a little less than 2 inches low, I still have enough clearance and the ride is tolerable and more importantly, adjustable as far as ride quality is concerned.

I wouldn't really go with any other brand of spring, however for shocks/struts, the only other I'd recommend is KONI yellows. They are top end but you'll feel it when you pay for it. Just dont expect the car to drive like its on rails with just lowering springs and new shocks/struts. For a complete suspension you want to make sure you check the bushings and replace where necessary, then you want to consider upper and lower strut bars etc... Its the complete package that helps the car handle at its peak.

 

auto trans = crapshoot in terms of will it live or not. I4 autos seem to live longer overall. V6 not so good

if you are going to lower your car do it right and buy a quality kit that has everything you need and designed to work together

1. proper struts (stock struts will blow out on a lowered ride)
2. adjustable camber kit
3. correct springs


disadvantages:

less suspension travel
can tear up your car if you live on crappy pothole riddled roads
usually the ride is stiffer

 

It's going to be a daily driver for me. so a 2 inch drop with just lowering springs should fit my needs?

 

i would check to see if the timing belt has done been done becuase Honda recommends that it is done at 105,xxx. I had mine done at a shop and it cost me about $800. Also if the car is a manual, I would check the clutch..mine went out at 110,xxx.

 

yeah, ask about the timing belt. change it if it hasn't been. do the water pump wjile you are at it.

service the trans too, whether a clutch/lube or a auto-trans flush.
