ATS Final Drive and Synchro install. Where to go?
Which place in Southern Cali do you guys recommend taking my tranny to install
my ATS final drive and replace synchro's for me?
btw - my tranny is already removed from the engine. They just have to open the housing and do the work needed.

If you took a road trip to AZ my friend Chris could do it for you....He is a certified honda master tech.....and he did my ats fd for me. No problems what so ever. He can do your syncros no problem also.

hmmmm....from the book, it looks like the ATS would go on the mainshaft, right?
And synchro's would be replaced on the countershaft, right?
Would it go to a point where the whole gear set would all be disassemble

so only the mainshaft would be left alone?
Having watched someone put an ATS in my transmission last weekend, I would not recommend it unless you are fairly mechanically inclined, or at least have watched someone else do it. It is not wildly complex, but getting everything aligned on the countershaft can be tricky.
Now I would be willing to try it, but I'm glad I didn't attempt it cold. The Helms can only explain so much.

> how long did it take for that person to finish your transmission?
I also had my clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel replaced at the same time. The entire job took about 6 hours of unhurried work. Pulling the transmission and putting it back in the car takes most of that time. The actual gear work was probably about 90 minutes.
I used Jeff at http://www.hybridautomotive.com in San Jose. I would highly recommend him if you need some work done in the Bay Area.

<--- drop tranny, install ATS, install clutch and flywheel and put tranny back on....4 hours!

No, actually 4 hour completion time can be attributed to a lift and air tools.
