Can't brake loose crankshaft nut
Hey folks, I'm trying to replace my timing belt and a few other things on my 96 2.2L and can not get the crankshaft nut to break loose. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I would like to try to get this done over the Holiday weekend. I am at the point of getting it to TDC and then can not keep the pully from spinning once at TDC. I jam a large screwdriver in the flywheel area as you're suppposed to do but can not keep the pully from spinning.
Thanks in advance for any help you can pass my way.

Here's what I know from my experience with the same issue. First of all, don't worry about TDC just yet, you can reset it after you loosen the crankshaft bolt. Just need to retighten it temporarily, then set it. You need to buy the special tool for holding the crank pulley while you loosen the nut. Do some searching on here, you will find the info you need. I followed all the recommendations, but still had to take it to a shop to have it loosened... $20 well spent. You will still need the crankshaft tool when re-tightening the crank bolt when you're done. Good luck!
Oh yea, check the FAQ section, good tutorial there

The crank pulley nut on my car was crazy hard to break loose. We used the honda crank pulley holder and jacked the car up about as far as we could. The point of jacking it up was that it gave us an angle to put the socket on the nut without using any extensions on the breaker bar. That decreased flex and allowed more direct torque on the nut. We also put a pipe on the end of the breaker, and just for kicks hit it with some PB blaster.
Good luck

Thanks for the input. I'll see what I can come up with but since I need this done today, I'll try a few more things and then put it all back together if I can't get it and then, try, try again.
