Hello,

I have a 1991 Accord EX Automatic that is overheating.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a reason why the driverside fan on the radiator wouldn't come on? I believe that it may be a relay problem. The relay is marked 'Cooling Fan Relay' on the fuse box in the engine bay, but I can't seem to find the part at autoparts stores. Does it go by another name as well?

drivers side one is your ac fan i belive id have to double check but im pretty sure

 

Yeah, this is driving me nuts. When i turn the car off the passenger side one comes on to cool the car since it is overheating, but if i turn on the AC both fans stay stationary and don't move at all and i know they are supposed to come on. Does anyone happen to know where the ground is for the fans if there is one?

Arg, not the relay, i just tried swapping the power window and cooling fan relay. any ideas out there?

Have you tried jumpering power to the fan motor to see if indeed it will run?

One fan alone working should be enough to keep the engine from overheating.
Does the main fan come on and run when the temp is showing about 1/2 way?
Do the radiator hoses have about equal temp when the temp gauge is 1/4 of the way? That tells you if the T-stat is opening.
Is the block full of coolant and burped thru the 12mm bleed screw at the T-stat housing?
Any white smoke from the tailpipe?
