Default spark plug/oil?

Today after fixing a few things here and there on the REX (plus put new side moldings )I went to start it and after I did I pop open the hood just to check things out and my spark plug wire/cap was sitting high/had a gap vs sitting nice and flushed the way it should. I know from before that it was not sitting the way it was today. So after I saw it not sitting flushed I took out the spark plug and there was a bit of oil on the spark plug, why? How can I fix this or is it nothing? After taking out the spark plug and cleaning it I clean the plug to the spark plug which was a bit oily form the oil and after i did I put it back but it still sat the same, not flush . So why is this? Or do I just need new plugs? LMK TIA

usually from the spark plug tubes leaking it will swell the rubber from the plug wires and push them upwards.

that actualy happened to me only I can push it down further. I found that the connector at the end of the "boot" had come loose, i guess they are glued in place, you should check that out.
You should check the continuety and resistance of the wire and make sure its okay.

and the oil is coming through the o-ring seals on the VC, get a new VC gasket "kit" it should have the spark plug o-rings.

yeah that's what it looked like when I was cleaning/looking at the plug ("boot"-Grog) I was gonna put some silicone stuff on it but figure nawh not probably for it so I didn't-only cleaned it and then put it back for the moment...SO I need a new valve cover?? or just valve cover gasket w/ the plug o-rings for the spark plugs? Are they pricey? How much they going to run me? Will I be okay if I just left it/leave it for a while and run it like that or will I run into bigger issues later if I don't fix it?

EDIT: is there anything else besides a VC gasket kit? that I can do like maybe try to put some sort of sealant down there to seal the oil from getting on my spark plugs?LMK

you just need the gasket kit. they arent too much.

okay I'll see if I can opt for the kit....but haven't taken off a valve cover yet, but basically it's the gasket that'll be under the valve cover right or something else? Like a spark plus o-ring as you said? and valve cover goes over on top no? How can I fix the plug boot or just get new ones? thanks

so I said I haven't taken off a valve cover yet but do I just unbolt it and that's it? No oil or nothing will come out on me right?

it sounds like you could really use a Helm manual.

and dont start pullin it apart yet, get the parts first.

Have you looked to see if that is the cause?

As long as you do it with the motor off you should be fine

do a search if you need more info.
