i really have no idea this is my first honda my brother use to own it then he sold it to his friend and they put this engine in and my brother told me to adjust the lifters lol i know engines and thought it was kind of odd that some how you can adjust the lifters ive never heard of it before but i also cant find anywhere that sells lifters for civics.... i called all the auto part stores around my area and none of them even show up lifters ....... the chatter is getting worse every day and i wanna fix it before it messes up the engine theres about 3,000 dollars into the engine so far and thatd be a sad waste to blow it up.... and by helm manual did u mean like a haynes or a chiltons manual?? thanks

Youre looking for the rocker arms. Arent lifters what they use in pushrod engines? Thats a completely different design. Honda engines are overhead cam design.

And its infinitely easier to adjust the valves than it is to replace them. In fact, if you replace them, you need to adjust them anyway.

Get a service manual, you can find them for free as pdf's on the internet, or buy them at any parts store, and read through it. There is a guide if im not mistaken on adjusting the valves in the factory service manual, and there definately would be in the helms and chilton manuals.
