H23 turbo. Alternator in way with log mani
I'm doing a 50.trim build on my h23 and recently discovered that my alternator is in the way of the downpipe. Has anybody had this problem and how did you fix it? Thanks in advance
You gain a little more than an inch clearance (if I remember right) with an Explicit Speed D-series alternator bracket & D-series alt.
Hasport also has a relocation kit to be used with the D series alternator. It has better clearance in my opinion than the ESP one does with certain manifolds.
It's going to be pretty much trial and error for you though.

How much smaller is a d series alternator? I guess I've never really compared them before. That bracket could be easily made, I'll look into it tomorrow.
Really the alternators are almost the same size, with the D being just a little smaller and lighter. If you can make brackets yourself you might be better moving your stock alterntor...

Someone I know
fab'd a bracket to relocate his alternator and replaced the alt with a Chevy Camaro unit. Probably overkill for your situation, but making the bracket is not hard if you've done some metalworking before.
