Hey guys,
i just need a few question answered...
What cams would you all suggest for this NA LS-v set up
Head:
Full Race Port and polish
3 angel valve job
o.oo15 in Decked head
Buddy club dual valve springs
Titanium retainers
skunk2 standard size high comp valves
anything else you need to know??
i'm being told to go with the Skunk2 Pro2's...

What made you choose that VT? What is this motor going to be used for? Is the motor sleeved? What intake/header are you using? What are you tuning with?

Motor is DD with track time
Motor is NOT sleeved
Blox Intake mani
Header still unsure
Tunning will be done with Crome

What kind of track? (Drag race/Auto X/road race)
If you bought the VT from a Buddy Club dealer, then I would buy Buddy Club cams from him...probably 4's. If you wanted better quality/results/longevity, I would rec. Pro1's with S2 Pro VT or if you wanted more of a top end, M22x with RM SL VT. Header wise, I would suggest a coated SMSP, if you wanna spend $$, a Toda or stainless SMSP would be very nice. If you want to support the trash, buy a "Hyech replica" and be like all the other "enthusiasts."

A few things.
Don't use crome.
Don't use Skunk2 Pro series cams.
I've yet to see Pro series cams really impress me on any cars i've done or seen locally. Skunk2 just must have really good advertising b/c there in everybodys cars, making OK power (from what i've seen, puts flame suit on).
A good header is a good idea, but for a daily driver in our area, its not exactly too practical, you'll be pissed when you smash up your $1000+ header on a nasty pot hole or coming down a steep driveway or something.
Buddy Club 4's make nice midrange torque. The last LSvtec i tuned with them had over 130ft/lbs all the way from 3000-8300 with the torque peaking at 141ft/lbs and made 201whp. He was running about the same compression as what you will be too.
And Neptune FTW.

lol...no. I guess that came off the wrong way.
I've seen some decent numbers with the Pro series stuff, but not around here, and the OP is from around here and has local resources available to him.
I've seen the ITB'd 14:1 CR race engines with the Pro series stuff make crazy power with an open header or race header/exhaust setup, but this guys building a street car.
The last guy i saw use pro 2's didn't make nearly what he wanted to and pretty much did exactly what one of the local machine shops told him to do to build that setup.
I'm just saying there are IMHO better options available to him right now than the H-T bandwagon skunk2 stuff. Not trying to be disrespectful, just saying how i feel.
To the guy asking about crome. Crome is *** for many reasons, i could make 5 threads on reasons why crome sucks and how every other rom editor out there is 10 times better than it. One reason would be the complete and utter lack of support for it anymore. Calvin, blundar, nate and all those other guys/developers don't give a **** about crome anymore to its development has stopped.
Neptune is where its at now from my experiences using the available Rom Editors. Having all the features actually work and work as they should is an incredibly reassuring thing and helps get a car running mint very easily and headache free.

Crome pro Gold just came out, which is pretty good
eCtune is also very good..
neptune is fine as well they're all very good tuning solutions..
Its whatever fits the persons likings and budget.. Dont down grade something because you haven't had success with it.
Every Car i tune down here.. Ask for Crome or eCtune and to be honest with you, 80% of the cars i tune are running Crome..

i've used crome for the last almost 3 years now and have had my fair share of sucess with it. So i am also fully aware of its strong points and its flaws.
I've also used eCtune and agree that its solid software, although the tuner version is pricey and still eCtune has its bugs.
I'm not saying Neptune is better or worse than Hondata or eCtune, but around here there aren't any authorized eCtune dealers (that i know of, or thats on calvins list), so unless he's DIY eCtune prolly isn't an option at the moment. There are however 2 authorized Neptune dealers in southern ontario now, so for the $100 more it'll cost him to get tuned with Neptune (over crome) i think its well worth it.
This isn't a Crome vs Neptune vs eCtune thread.
I offered my advice (put my flame suit on) from my experiences and thats that.

There's a saying that would suit this situation ...
"To each his own"..
Opinion very much matter on here..at least to me.. an experince with one product that another does not have is something to go off of...
I myself prefer Crome or eCtune.. i recommend crome to those who wish to do it themselves and learn.. its easier to learn with..
Good points. Tho , really.

i don't know if i'd say crome is easier to learn on, i've seen many people struggle to get the car to even start when using crome. By the time you buy PRO, an emulator and a datalogging cable, ur almost at the cost of a Neptune RTP or an eCtune DIY or PRO license.
Neptune is very easy to use and for a beginner would be easier to setup IMO since you don't have to add plug-ins in a correct order, you don't have to worry about what versions of what plug-ins you have, or worry about where in your C:\CROME folder you've got which plug-ins. I've helped a bunch of people who were having a hard time just getting the software setup correctly with all the folders and plug-ins and plug-in manager. Granted the newer versions of crome have most of these issues sorted out for the most part, this is something you don't ever have to worry about when using Neptune or eCtune. Where you set vtec to in Neptune, vtec kicks in, unlike Crome when using the P72 code and actually having control over the idle is a nice feature. Cromes idle control has improved over the years, but for a while the IACV duty cycle slider didn't even work in crome. I started using crome back in the v1.1.8 days, so i've seen its ups and down.
You can't deny Neptune/eCtunes GUI is much easier to navigate and way more user-friendly.
But like you said, to each their own.
