Default A Few CRX Si Questions

First and foremost, I did not find a straight answer for this question; When putting a Y8 head on an A6, how much is the timing off on the head and do you retard or advance it?

Secondly; What is the purpose for the small spring that attaches the T-belt tensionser to the block? It looks like it just hangs there...

Third and final; When I went through the options of hooking V-tec up, I found that a V-tec controller will not work due to not being able to control timing so it won't actuate properly. Is this true or is someone out there bluffing?

I apologize for the long thread I just want get some things straightened out.

Thanks in advance to all that adhere to this thread.

I don't know much about the specific timing part, but that spring is what actually provides the tension.
I wouldn't use a vtec controller. Your ecu will still use the same fuel and ignition maps for both high and low cams. Really not that good for performance. Convert to obd1 and run a vtec ecu. You'll be better off in the long run.

How does the spring put tension on it if the bolt is tight on the tensioner? So it would be pointless to buy a V-tec controller?

Anyone out there know about the timing?

the spring should be providing tension before you tighten down the bolt. if it is not, its either stretched or not installed properly.

If you are looking at the tensioner which way should the spring hole be pointing?

Does anybody know about the timing? Is it the same as an A6 or do I have to adjust the cam gear?
