96 Accord LX 4cyl Auto trans HELP PLEASE will not shift out of second gear.
Hello All,
I have a 96 Accord Lx 4cyl auto, not VTEC, I just put 2 new axles in it drove it to work and on the way home it started down shifting hard and finally hung up in second gear.
I pulled over let it set for 20mins or so and started off again. went from first to second and hung up again. I check Fluid, Looked good, I even added some LUCAS transmission stop slip and band restore stuff and no help. I put a scan tool on it and it said Turbine Input Speed Sensor. I reset the code and drove it and it did fine for the first 20 miles then hung up again, but this time no code detected. Any help on this would be great. I'm not sure if resetting the code helped or was it that the car had been setting for a couple of days.
HELP PLEASE. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jeff

Hey, same problem with my 1992 accord lx. I've tried the shift solenoid and the main pickup and counter pickup on the cover of the tranny. I also replaced all the coolant sensors. Still no luck. Right now I have the Transmision Control Unit (TCU) on order. I will update you if this fixes the problem. I have also read that there might be shreded pieces of metal cloging the soleniods. I didn't do a presure test on the soleniods, but I understand that this would tell you if something is stuck in them.
Hey, Just thought of something else. I know you changed the tranny fluid. What type did you put in? Mine started doing it about 3 weeks ago. I changed the fluid, no luck. I also reset the the TCU by Pulling the fuse called the Backup in the engine fusebox. Works great for about a few minutes, 2-3. then back to the same old problem I can go up to 2 gear but only if I mash the gas down will I be able to get to third, however as soon as I let up even a hair, wham downshift into second. Any help would be good for me as well.
