Fix teh brakes take 62: Bushing recommendations for ECHC build-up please...
As folks who have been following my ongoing brake saga know, I need to replace the front lower control arm bushings on my EG Hybrid. I would appreciate folks thoughts / experiences on the subject. My priorities are performance, durability, and price - in that order. Car is track only. The contenders are:
MUGEN:
+ Hard Rubber
- Big dollars ($200+ for front set alone)...
Energy Suspension:
+ Cheap (in fact I have a set)
+ Polyeurethane
- Have a bad rep for binding, squeeking
OPM Motorsports
+ Delrin - very little flex
- Only make lower front inner bushing - I'd still need to source the rest
- Expensive ($105 for two bushings)
Progress Auto
+ Metal - very precise
- Cost
- Is this overkill, too bumpy?
Stock - Type R
? Anyone know if this would fit the front EG control arms?
Stock - EG
I am not very excited about using stock stuff if I have the chance to upgrade.
Please share your knowledge and experiences.

You can use the GSR lower control arms front and rear so you can put the GSR/Type R sway bars on. I ordered a GSR rear sway bar kit from http://www.hybridautomotive.com. The kit was about the same price as just LCA's would be from most junkyards that I found, they were hard to come by too.

I like the poly stuff fine. I think the people who say it binds mangled the install, didn't use the right grease, and/or are trying to sell you some pimpy delrin stuff.
If you make a decision based on squeaking I am never going to stop making fun of you

Karl et al,
Forget the squeeking, I worry about the binding. I am leaning towards using the ES kit now as a quick fix and then maybe upgrading this winter when I have more time to test & play.
Anyone who thinks I care about squeeking hasn't heard my brake set-up recently - shims, what are those??
Besides - it's my driving you can make fun of. I am gonna OWN H5 next year. Of course, I 'll be running it H1....

Ever since I re-lubed my ES bushings, things have been peachy. The binding I had was due to an incorrectly mounted rear sway.
Ideal? Probably not.
An improvement over busted-*** stock bushings? Absolutely.
