Default DIY interior refresh......check it

Well I got tired of looking at my faded seats and interior....so I painted them......just used Duplicolor vinyl/fabric spray and a upholstery brush.

side by side old and painted

another before

another after

All in all Im happy with the results....not bad for 18$ and a couple hours...

Okay, this is two people I've seen now do this. Im not going to lie, I think painting fabric is kind of ricey, but I've done ricey **** before and I'd do it again if it was really worth it.

My hesitation with painting seats and other fabric parts is that its going to rub off on your clothes (especially if you live in a hot place) and that it will fade from sun exposure, and that possibly it'll smell of paint for a while.

Can you elaborate on any of those?

I did it yesterday....it dosent smell like paint at all any more, but I pulled them out to paint them, and didnt just do it in the car.

I drove to the store in a white shirt about 20 mins after I re installed them and got nothing on it at all,but I used an upholstery brush to knock off any loose paint and make the fabric feel all soft and nice again...then blew it off with compressed air,i didnt really see much come off,I just wanted to get all the loose stuff out.

It says it is fade resistant,we will see,but I have about 1/2 a can left and if it does at all touch up is a breeze.

Hope that helps,oh and I dont really belive that painting 15 year old faded seats is really ricey, just a nice freshen up imo......unless you go bright *** two toned haha

I'm not gonna lie, it looks pretty good.

Where did you buy the paint?

That looks really good. I'm sure I'll do the same and pick up some new floor mats. What about the side panels on the door??

I'm glad it turned out good and doesn't get on your clothes. I'd say your white shirt is your ultimate test.
good call brushing all loose stuff off. My friend painted parts of his seats and it started coming off in a few months. keep us posted.

its a good route to refresh your interior, but my brother has dont this to his twice now. It fades off pretty quick. his driver seas starts to show fading in about 2-3weeks, although he went from tan to black it would probaly be alot less noticable the way you did it. only reason i havnt done this yet it dont want it to fade away and havta redo it again.

Im not soo sure mine will fade....I probally hit the seats with 5-6 coats of the stuff, but we will see,and as far as the door panes....I did the fabric inserts and the carpeted part at the bottom where the door speaker is,but the rest is already black vinyl/pleather whatever that stuff is,so its good.

Im probally going to do my carpet next week....its curretly grey, but could use some love.

Yeah, that stuff looks like its good. I was going to do it to my lude. But after a change of events, it might be pointless for me to do that. Gutting the interior might be whats in store for me.

I did this about a month and a half ago and it turned out great.I pulled everything out to do this including the carpet, The smell was gone the next day and I also brushed off the excess so it was soft. No fading yet so im happy. some of you would say its not worth it but id say it is. I was just tired of seeing the fade that was on the back seats so thats why I tryed it.
Although this really isnt the right section for this I thought id tell you guys my experiences aswell

Right on man^^^^^^ yeah I wasnt sure what forum to post this in....so sorry for that. But I thought it was kinda technical.....anyway this is a nice change for a low price....I have showed 3 of my buddies the difference and all of them want to do it to there cars and trucks, one of which went down the same day and bought 3 cans for his 240.....Im telling you for 18$ it makes all the difference.

My local Autozone and NAPA didn't have it, hence my asking. Guess I'll check around sometime.

UPDATE: well its been a number of months and the interior still looks great, the driver seat has some fading where my butt and shoulders go,but it took 15 seconds of touch up in the car to remedy that....also i did my carpets and they look brand new....black as the night.Just a little update.

I used it with my carpet and it is amazing. You have to let it sit at least a 1/2 Hour.
