Yes, it can and has been done. You need a base tranny and an adapter plate. Search around the threads for info about the adapter plate. Any particular reason why you want to switch?

because im going to go boost and my motor is about to go out and its to hard to find the same engine so im just going to take all the extra stuff out and turn it into a base
