Default Need help with H22 accord

Ok so my friend has a H22 accord, we was driving and i was behind him then all of a sudden it sound like he blew a tire out. i was about 4 cars behind him. pulls over and it wasn't a tire. we looked under hood and everything looked ok. So tried to start it again. took a few but it started and idled. then when he tried to take off it did the same thing again but twice then died. Then we took out the plugs and put new ones in and we got a new cap and rotor cause it was burnt up anyways. still nothing. tried putting in more gas cause he was on E. still nothing. We took the plugs out to make sure it was getting spark and it is. and when we would turn it over and then let off the key the motor would spin backwards sometimes and push air back out the intake(idk if that's normal just throwing that out there tho) He has a new coil that he bought like a month ago or so. He has MSD coil and ignition box and i think 9.5mm wires. Someone said they thought it was the ignition module in the distributor. so we changed that and it still isnt starting. Does anyone have any other ideas?

if you are getting spark i woudltnt bother lookign into ignition components right now.

try checking if theres fuel, and also making sure the timing betl has not jumped any teeth and all line up at TDC

Yes it is gettin fuel too. i took out a plug and you could smell the gas. I was thinkin that it might have jumped a tooth too. I hope it didnt. If that did happen how do i fix it?

what year is it? Only reason I ask is because that sounds like a faulty Crank Position Sensor.

It may idle but it won't rev up......

its a 94 accord, idk what year h22 but its OBD1. I think we got it fixed now. we took off the the MSD multi spark box and just hooked it straight to the coil and it started up. well later on we went back to start it agin and it drove like maybe 1/8 mile and it shut off again. this time it wasnt gettin spark. well i seen that the wires coming out of the distributor cap where it use to be a internal coil, the wires were crushed so we redid the wires and filed a spot in the cap so they would fit and it was gettin spark and it ran. and so far still is. now we just question if the MSD multi spark box is still good. so we are going to try it out tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys

the MSD units are known to fail, especially if they receive excess vibration.
