Certain Way To Install Rods?
I have a set of Eagle rods for the d16z6, is there a certain way to install these? I was reading the manual and it says to install the rods with the oil hole facing the back of the rear of the block. But I noticed that the Eagles don't have the oiling holes for the big side. Does it matter what way we install them? Or just drop them in?

wrong. bearing tangs go towards the exhaust side.

Is it really that neccessary? I've been getting mix info, some people say it doesn't matter and now reading this I'm not even sure where the notches are. If they are at front of rear.

if u think it matters can u explain? the notches are for bearing placement does not matter wich way the rod goes on unless you mean the rod cap, the yes but the rod can go either way theres no diffrence front to back there machined the same all the way around
I just had mine face all the same way going with the eagle emblem. Did'nt specify in the paper's that came with the rods of directional use, only torque specs.

I had all of my letters and numbers etc all face the same way, and yes the instructions didn't say much except torque specs. That's why I had to ask. Thanks

Can someone post a picture of these "tangs" that are on the Eagle rods? I do not remember my rods having any significant markings to show which way they go on. They were identical on either side.
Maybe Bseries rods only have them?

Ah, ok, I know exactly what you're talking about. Thanks.

tell me were you ever read they go on the exaust side, can you tell me what the difference is from one side of the rod to the other, and if you say put the tang towards the exaust side which tang? because the cap and the rod both have them and there on opposites side of each other
I believe the shop manual I used to build my engine said to put the bearing tangs on the exhaust side.
We aren't making this up, they really are supposed to be installed that way. lol

on the big end of eagle rods there are letters stamped on on side of the cap, and numbers stamped on the other side.
which side has the tangs? the numbers or letters. (i think i did it right, but dont want to pull the caps just to check if someone know this bit of info. all it would take is a quick look since my pan isn't on the block yet.
thanks,

From what I'm getting from this thread.
Tang on the cap goes on the exhaust side.
I don't remember which way I put mine in, honestly they're probably mismatched and whatever else and I haven't had any problems. *shrug*

wich manuel? ive got alldata & MItchell at work and no were does it say put the tangs on the exaust side, as far as the numbers on the rods there for bearing sizeing, so theres no reason for anyone to worry which way you put them in it does not matter, and if you think they do post the mauel info
