Default 1/4 mile traction help

Hi, i have a b16 del sol with a big turbo ..turbonetics t58 the car is about 2600lbs and i got a build bottom end and stuff.. pushing about 16psi now.. i guess about 300hp but my 1/4 mile times a horrible mid 14's 1st 2nd and some of 3rd gear is spinning wheels can anybody help me with that.. i use crome and tune it my self, 0-60 is in 7sec and wheels are 17'' 205 40 tires are new but its not helping.I was wondering how much faster would i go if i put the slicks .. they are M"H for 13" rims.. i just dont have such a rims now so i cant test with slicks yet. But i need some kind of boost controller for 1st and 2nd gear so that i have a good start like 0-60 in 5sec .. can anybody tell me how to make that kind of controller or something that can help? Thanks a lot.

Slicks would make a world of difference. Get some lenso wheels and throw those slicks on. Street tires are basically useless on boost honda.

what tires are they?

I'd practice the driver mod before saying "get slicks"

practice your launches. It's more about driver than anything, if you can't drive it, it doesn't matter how much power you have!

17" wheels + low profile tires = No Traction on a boosted honda.

thats it just the tires ) interesting.. well i cant always drive on slicks i need a street car thats in higt 13's and fun to drive and smaller turbo is not an option so some kind of boost control for 1st and 2nd gear is my goal i guess

m&h drag radials are by far the best drag radials i've ever used... 440whp and i had traction in ALL of 2nd gear....

slicks would be even better !

that's actually pretty damn good for street tires......you might be able to pull 1.9's if you really really work on it.

you need to learn how to drive then dude. 111mph is good for 12s.

Practice your launches. If you get good with the launches and get your 60' times down, you'll see low 13s on street tires easy, or better if you really practice.

It's not impossible with street tires, it's just not easy.

well yea but the turbo is way to big , i can launch pretty good but as soon as i hit 5000rpm on 1st and 2nd gear.. tires start spinning and there is nothing i can do to stop them . i hit rpm limit cut offs 5-6 times before i shift.. its just crazy.. thats i think the only solution is some kind of boost control that will limit boost to 7psi lets say on 1st and 2nd gear and than go to 16psi on 3-4rd...

that 2.07 was a fluke!!! haha havent been able to pull it off again...consistant 2.1's all day long!!!

Learning how to drive is the key here!!! learn your car...14.3 is pretty pathetic for a 111mph trap! but it was your first time out...and those 17's you have arent helping....i would think that you can pull mid to lo 13's all day long on street tires witht hat trap...slap some slicks on there and cut a 1.7 or 1.8 60ft and id expect to see the car at 12.5-12.6 maybe even better...what kind of suspension do you have??

The most important piece of setting up a car is suspension, boost control, and the driver....

try the apexi avcr it has gear based boost control and works great or if you want a manual boost controller look at the turbo xs they have a dual and quad stage they should add to your skill and help you run a good time

Tempest Racing <-- both controllers available on there

http://www.nlrsystems.com the best boost controller's ever.

check out the AMS-1000 and the AMS-500

both controllers are dead accurate and dead consistant !

we have been using them since beggining of 06 or so, with no issues ever. great boost controllers

FAIL!!!! think about what happens...Weight transfer goes to the rear when you are under accelration!!! stiffer springs/adjustible dampening in the rear will help you alot!!! if you have really soft springs more weight transfer goes to the rear and "Lifts" up your front end more or less..haha not too good at explaining myself but i think you get the point right...?

driver's mod is practice. Getting to know your car inside out.

I haven't even taken my civic to the track yet, but n/a with no mods I'd be happy to see 15's, LOL. It's all in the 60' time. Get a good 60' time and it'll show dividends at the other end of the track.

gsr powered you should be expecting mid to high 14's trapping about 93-95mph...depending on the weight of your car i guess...my gsr when it was stock with some bolt ons in a full interior full weight DC2 trapped 93.53mph...thats a full 2700lb car witha bout 156whp...

yeah I've just got a 2.5" exhaust and a sorta-intake (stock tubing with a cone filter)

stock header (i'm thinking it's an OBD1 header though, only 1 O2 sensor bung in it...looks like a decent design)

it's an 00 sedan, no spare, no insulation crap in the trunk that I could find

Order some urethane control arm bushings for the front
Order some urethance motor mount inserts [Prothane is best]
Order some traction bars * [optional but good to have]
Get a OBX or Quaife* [optional but good to have]
Get some real tires or better yet some slicks
Get a alignment
Go find deserted road and practice launching for a few hours
Go back to track smash 12's all day
