Ls turbo-about the same price as a Gsr swap. Best bang for the buck

 

B16 engine and trans. But before you start the car, buy an adapter plate and an H22, and put them in-place of the B16.

personally i like boosted LS engines... thats IMO tho... i like smoking b18c5's but hey its up to you.... plan out how much money you got, and the HP you want, and now with gas the way it is... what your fuel economy will be... tho most b18s are about the same

 

A b18c5 will be way more reliable than a boosted ls, I like ls motors though they have the best bang for the buck. I ran a ls with a 75shot dry nitrous set up
and it ran great. I don't think a stock bottem ls boosted will be any faster than a
type r swap, It does cost more but will last longer.

 

if your going all motor the whole way... b20b with b16b head. (vtec hits hard in my opinion)
if you want to boost b18c1 with b16a2 head
or something me and my friends tried for fun was the LS block with B20 head non vtec...
then again like everyone else.... its entirely up to you

there was a flaw that came behind it actually. it was great cuz we gained alot more torque in such, (my opinion not dynoed or anything) but when we added headers, high flow cat and an exhaust, we felt no power gain. its like that whole exhaust kit was just for show lol. But from what i heard its a good combination to boost without vtec and turbo lag. but its what i heard...what do you think???

Why would you say that?? Have you ever visited the Forced Induction forum?? There are several stock block boosted ITRs around and they make great power. Dont let the higher-than-average static compression throw you off. They're great platforms with awesome off-boost response and on-boost power. Research more before making such bold claims

You didn't understand the reason of my response to cashkeith, I'm aware that there are many successfully boosted Type R's but IMO why would someone even recommend ahead of time to get a B18C5 for a boost platfrom? It's just seems too risky to me to be boosting a precious motor like that when you can buy and probably even build another setup for cheaper and see more results, that's all.

Why not then just boost a Gsr? Lower compression has greater volumetric efficientcy. Even though the Itr hand ported head gives you better linear flow for boost. This is allmy dyno proven results. But you can say "I read it in the forced induction forum"! You have any personal research of your own? Or do you read something and pawn it off as your own knowledge? Wow...i didnt think people would take such offense to my post. I was merely stating that the ITR, as expensive and "precious" as they may be, are great platforms for a turbo setup. I do agree that the better route is a GSR with a set of ITR cams though.

As for the personal experience vs "reading something and pawning it off as my own," i guess i've never owned an ITR. I dont see how that's a flaw. I have a boosted GSR if that makes you feel any better, but i have a close friend with a 320whp boosted ITR...again irrelevent. I have read many posts in the Forced Induction forum (seeing as i moderate it and this forum) so when it comes to second hand experience, i'm sure i have a good grasp on what works and what doesn't. For future reference, there's no need to be such an *** in a response to a post...especially when it doesn't concern you.
