Default Problem. Car is not making power. | T67 - 84mm - LSVTEC

Heres my set-up:

InlinePRO Manifold
T3/T67 HO
Tial 38mm
PTE 750 FMIC, PTE 1000cc injectors
3" DP to 3" full exhaust
84mm Golden eagle sleeved B18a
B16 head with type-r cams
victor X intake manifold
ect....

Timing is dead on.

I have always started the car with the tuner before driving it without a tune. Motor seems very strong. The car has around 4000 miles on it. Motor was just rebuilt, compression is 195 across the board.

I put the car on the dyno before and it made 251whp/220wtq @ 15psi with a blown SC61. Turbo was smoking, so i put the T67 on. We went to tune the car with the T67 and it feels like it has NO power. No boost or vac leaks. The car is on 9psi right now, it builds boost normal, but it just dosent go anywhere.

Im stumped. Anyone have any ideas on what to check to insure VTEC is working? Im going to have my tuner take a look at it thursday see what he can come up with.

hey bro do a leak down test and not a compression test. you may be leaking somewhere internally... this drastically reduces power output. And what standalone are you using??? s300?? AEM?? crome??

worst comes to worst you can wire a light into the power to the vtec solenoid. dyno would also tell u if vtec is working.

other things, maybe if u have flex section in the downpipe it coulda collapsed. is the dumptube blowing on the intake?

Neptune RTP. I am looking for a leakdown test locally, nobody has one i can borrow. I will eventually find one.

Flex section is fine, checked it when i swapped the turbo. Now that i look at the dyno sheet, it does look like power is falling fast. But the turbo WAS blown, so who knows.

Here is the sheet:

I see no evidence of vtec in that map. and what is your power goal? If you're not going to try for more than 300whp, i suggest downsizing the turbo.

I agree with the no vtec thing every time i look at it. Does anyone know if the turbo was dying, if it would effect power drop this much? It was smoking and inlet/outlet was covered in oil.

Electronically vtec is working. Maybe i should put it on a switch and see what happens.

Im going for 550+whp

if vtec isn't working, the upper rpm level of the base cam is probably severely overlapping which can really kill power.

Blown seals in a turbo doesn't necessarily mean it won't make power, it just means it's gonna leak oil.

Which leads me to the first post i made in this thread. Alrhough vtec is working electronically. How can it not be working mechanically. It has a brand new screen/gasket/eect...

The turbo is binding. The one that was in it.

Isn't vtec hydraulically actuated and not electronically? Maybe there's a problem wiht the oil pressure switch or something?

You are correct. But something has to TELL the solenoid when to activate VTEC. And that is all functioning peoperly. I'll try another solenoid and see what happens.

check for power at solenoid and make sure vtec is turned on!LOL also try supplying power to the solenoid and see if it engages vtec while car is running will clearly be able to hear this happen

What's feeding the turbo and head? Golden eagle sandwich adaptor?

can you hear VTEC when the car is driving?

do you have oil pressure, have you checked your oil. simple stuff but must be checked.

The car is loud i cant really tell if i can hear it or not. Yes, I have a oil pressure gauge, everything is fine there. Oil is fresh.

I should be able to go into vtec partial throttle right? What is the TPS% needed to go into vtec?

If i jump the solenoid at idle what is suppose to happen?

I jumpped it, it dosent do anything at first, then it slowly just shuts off and it throws a vtec solenoid CEL.

my car is very loud...4" open down pipe and my car really cracks vtec. old the throttle partially until your vtec xcross over, you should deffinately be able to hear it no matter how loud your car is.
