JDM Type R Distributor and Timing Questions?!?! Please Help!
ok i have 2 questions.
number 1: is the distributor cap on a jdm b18c type r the same size as the distributor cap on a usdm b18c? because i bought one from autozone and it was just a hair too small. it looks the exact same though so im wondering if its the wrong one or if its because i have a jdm engine.
number 2: can i loosen the bolts on the distributor of a jdm b18c type r and twist it to advance or retard the timing without the pistons slapping the valves? with the higher compression i dont know if it can be done. and if so, can it be done while the car is running?
even an answer to one of these questions would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Answer to question two: Buy yourself a manual for a your car. To properly set your ignition timing you need a timing light. The distributor has nothing to do with the position of your valves. That would be your cam gears(other side of motor) which would be attatched to your cams. Moving your distributor will change when you get spark from your spark plugs
for the cap, it sounds like a bad mold, i dunno anything about jdm caps, but i cant imagine them being almost identical, they would have to have s significant difference. try another cap, or an oem one, or borrow one from a buddy with a us dizzy
