Removing balance shaft belt
Hey everyone. I've searched a bit on this and have found some helpful answers, but i want to specify with what I'm looking to do.
Anyway, i have a 94 JDM H22A. I'm looking into removing the balance shaft belt. I know Bense on here removed his belt on his f series, as well as the pulleys, and used a block off plate, while leaving the shafts themselves in the motor. I could do that also, but was thinking hmm, can't i just leave the pulleys on there and just take off the belt? I'm just trying to make sure that this wouldnt cause any sort of a problem. From what I've read, the balance shafts are only there for NVH, Noise Vibration and Harshness. The vibration you get from removing them is less than the vibration you would feel from inserting poly mount inserts. Either way, I'm not worried about feeling any vibration from the motor.
So basically, I'd just like the input on whether this is a good idea. I know that there is the kaizenspeed kit, but i'm not at the point of taking the motor apart like that. The motor is in a 96 civic hatch, and it is not daily driven. Its mostly a weekend fun/race car. If i do just remove the belt, I plan to remove the belt while I'm on the dyno, this way i can compare numbers between a run with the belt on, and than any gains of eliminating the belt. Thanks for your input everyone.

As was said in another post about this belt, its fine to just take the belt off, and you can usually take off at least one pulley to lose a little weight and clutter, but the best option if the engine is out of the car is the whole kit. The sahfts weigh quite a bit, and the engine looks alot cleaner and has improved oil pressure if you do the whole kaizenspeed kit properly.
Yeah I know the benefits of the kaizenspeed kit, but I'm not at that point right now you know? In the future when the motor comes apart, I will most definitely use their kit. But for the time being while the motor stays together, I think I'll just remove the belt and pulley. Thanks for the input.
