Default sunroof stuck

you guys know that plastic piece that covers the sunroof from the inside of your car? well i guess its pretty shitty and fucd up and stuck, and is preventing my sunroof from openning. plus its stuck so i gotta suffer from the heat shining into the car, i cant close it! but is there a way i can remove it? the main question i guess is if i go buy a new one or whatever, can i put in back in? the piece looks like it can only come out if i bend it in half and yank on it

incase you guys dont know what im talkin about

You can fix this issue, but it's a bit of a pain. You'll need to drop the headliner to get to it. In order to drop the headliner, you need to drop the upper trim that surrounds your car (typically gray). In order to drop the upper trim you need to drop the lower trim (typically black). You'll probably need to remove the rear seats as well. It's an easy enough process, but time consuming if your doing it your first time. Once you have everything out you can remove the sunroof and cover as an assembly. There are about 6-8, 10mm bolts that attach it to the roof. I took my trim out yesterday in about an hour, but I've done it before. Once you drop the assembly you can investigate where the issue is and correct the problem. Good luck!
