Default does spinning your tires help your trap speed?

A freind of mine seems to think that spinning your tires when you launch helps your trap speed... Can someone who is experienced please explain that this isn't the case.

Because of your spinning, when you grab it give the car a bit of a jolt which will add mph. I know what I am talking about. Just because you hp equation works to an extent, (was off by 13whp when I plugged in my numbers) doesnt mean that spinning doesnt add to your mph lol..</TD></TR></TABLE>

He seems to beleive some bogus theories
cheers

Yea spinning does make your trap speed higher. I don't know if you wanna call that helping your trap speed more like hurting your ET. But most of the time you will still run around the same ET. ETs the game not trap speed. Say you run 10.00@130 w/ a low 60', but the next run you spin and still run a 10.00 but at 140. With the car spinning it has to run faster to run the same ET.

If your friend likes spinning out the hole most likely he's gonna get beat if he doesn't have the power to make it up. Tell him to stop spinning so much and his car will run faster (ET) just because he traps higher doesn't mean he's faster.

that is correct,if you spin you will have a higher trap speed ,but most likely have a slower e.t do to spinning the tires. once you hook you will gain more momentum in a shorter distance wich allows for your mph to go up. remember the whole time you are spinning the clock is running so this is why your e.t is worse.
it has alot to do with how the beams are tripped and calculate how fast you got from one beam to the next if that helps you at all
