Why do most trackers prefer these rims for track racing but rarely talk about how they are on the streets? Would these rims crack easily due to extreme conditions on the street?

I'm trying to fit 15x8 on my civic. What are your inputs for these?

 

i highly doubt that they would crack in the streets, the stress that they go under in the track is much higher then on the streets. i was thinking of buying these a while ago but because of how wide the rim is i did not. you would most likely need spacers just to fit them and you still might have a rubbing issues.

 

Most buy them for the track cuz they're cheap, wide and light and mount their track tires on them. There are tons of Miatas that daily drive them on the street with no problems.

 

I was looking into a set of these for auto x myself. But I was thinking more along the line of a 15x7 or 7.5

The 6UL is designed to accept loads far beyond what any street wheel will ever see, say 2G lateral loads at 140mph on 20° banking, hitting a 14" tall FIA curb at 80mph. If you hit something hard enough crack one, I think you'll have much bigger problems. They are designed to bend under an impact that might be beyond their ability to deal with, just as any good race wheel should.

What you see with cheap Chinese and Phillipine made copies of race wheels is fracturing.

Wow thanks for popping in. I was looking in your figment guide on your site... very helpful btw. What would you recommend for a 7 or 7.5 offset on a EG hatch like the one posted above?
