Car stalls while driving
I have a 99 v6 coupe with 130k miles. My car's died a couple times while driving in the freeway and once on surface streets. The car would just shut down on me and I have to pull over, put it in park or neutral and start up the car again. The radio is still on so it's not the battery. Several times, the warning light in the dash to taking your keys(?) flashes. At first I thought it was maybe I have a bad key but I'm not so sure now. I can easily jiggle the key and the could will die too.
I'm not sure if it's a bad ignition, key or something else. Please give me some feedback.

my 99 accord with 83000 miles just started doing this a couple months ago. it stalls at any point in time (driving fast, slow, changing lanes, etc.) with no warning. my dash just shows the key light for a second and shuts off, but the radio and hazard light still work. i took it in for the replacement of the recalled ignition switch right after i got the notice a while ago, but does anyone know what the problem is? the honda service at the dealership has no idea unless they 'can replicate the problem'. how can you replicate a problem when it happens at different times with no rhyme or reason when it does it? please help. i love my car, and i just want this fixed. i am concentrating on the car possibly stalling instead of full focus on the road.
rivven,
I have the same model you have and had the same exact problem until I replaced the ignition switch. I almost traded it in but now it runs just like new.

Take it to the dealership, tell them about ignition recall and they should replace your ignition switch free of charge that would fix the problem.... I blew my transmission because of this issue... and ended up paying $4000 in damages due to that... freak accident completely my fault but when your going 80mph and car suddenly shuts off... won't start again in the middle of traffic you would freak out like wtf just happened...
so, i have now had my ignition switch replaced twice (once during the original recall and the second last week, just in case per the dealership). i have had my fuel system flushed, thermostat replaced (car overheated), and my distributor replaced as well. honda has had my car for just about a week, as they said they could not replicate the problem a couple weeks ago. i filled up the tank and told them to drive it until it did it, and voila! it did it to them a few times. funny thing though, they still don't know what the issue is. the service person said it is making the master technician crazy, and what would you like us to do? well, hmmmm..fix it, would be nice. it is unsafe to drive the vehicle, and you at honda said if you could replicate the problem, it could be fixed. now, suddenly, you are giving up because you don't know what the issue is?! UGH! i was talking to a friend who suggested it might be the O2 sensors or the electrical brain. your thoughts?
I have a 99 Accord as well and same problem happen to me back in Mar 2006. My car would stall while driving. I had the ignition switch changed by my dealer but the problem did not go away. I did some research myself on the net and found out that a few people had the same problem. A couple suggested to have the Main fuel relay switch changed. It's like a $50 part. I had my dealer change mine and I've not had a problem since. Here is a link to a thread I found about this problem:
