How does it help that an unnamed person at an unnamed machine shop who may or may not exist can supposedly hand-hone a block down the thousandth? Even if he could, it is probably because he has hundreds of hours performing the procedure, and isnt on HT asking about it.

Seriously, take it to shop and pay the $50-60 to get it professionally honed, or else your gonna need to buy oversized pistons and rings after you mess up the bores

i tried a dingle hone on a block i have. bores were somewhat out of round before i attempted and luckily i wasnt really expecting any results. worked like **** . so if your cylinders are within the out of round specs give it a shot and measure three times. if they are out of round save yourself the time and get it done right.

if you have a good strait block all is needed is to nock the glaze off the walls so the new piston rings will seat...the dingle ball type is the **** lube the walls with lots of wd40 and keep the drill moving dont stop in the middle...

I DO HAVE SOME MACHINE SHOP EXPERIANCE BUT NOT WITH CARS SO MAYBE THAT WILL HELP ME GET IT DONE RIGHT. NEXT QUESTION DOES PORT AND POLISHING THE INTAKE AND HEAD GIVE YOU A LOT OF POWER ON A HONDA OR NOT

in theory yes.. but there are alot of variables involved, not really like in gran turismo when u add porting and polishing and the car improves right off the bat..

just porting not polishing though

I have used a "dingle ball" type honing tool at home with good results but that was on a block that was very good, not perfect, but very good. hone came out looking perfect and never had any problems down the road, tough to get the cross hatches to come out right test it on a spare block if you can
