Factory CD player options for 95 Accord EX?
My 95 has the factory tape deck in it. I'm wanting to throw a cd player in it, factory is fine, but are any of the factory CD players a straight in/straight out direct plug in type, or will I have to do something with the harness?
Does your factory tape player say "CD" anywhere on it? Maybe "CD/Tape"? If so, it can control a CD changer and is most likely compatible with an Alpine CD changer. You can buy those pretty cheap on ebay, probably $35 or $45. You'll need an adapter to get it to plug into the back of your radio, two adapters if the CD changer is Ai-Net.
This is what I currently have on my '99 LX (OEM head unit, Alpine CD changer). However... unless crime is really an issue where you live, just buy a new head unit. You can get a great one for $130 to $150 - one I picked up last summer for $135 from Crutchfield has a front-face USB port. What I do is download podcasts directly to the flash drive, then pop the flash drive directly into the head unit.

Take a look at this picture:

This is the same radio that I have in my ’99 LX though I don't have the CD player shown (I have a trunk mounted Alpine CD changer). Note the button near the top left corner that says “Tape CD”, that indicates that it has CD changer capability or it can control a single CD player, like the one in the picture.
If there are no buttons on your radio that say "CD"... I don't think that there are any "plug and play" CD player options. But aftermarket radios are dirt-cheap these days, will have .mp3 / .wma capability, may be able to control an iPod, may have a USB port that you can just plug in a flash drive or a portable hard drive, etc etc.

Ive had two of those already and both went bad after a short time. Im wondering if it is just coincidence. I have an Alpine right now, but it looks as if its about to krap out. I like the sleek OEM look also.
