Timing adjustment
I just read in a previous thread that you can adjust the timing through the dizzy on the d series motors if you jump something in the ECU. Is this true, and if so, what do you jump exactly?
Can you adjust the timing enough to compensate for being off a tooth on the belt?

ignition (distributor) timing is different than cam (timing belt) timing, no amount of ignition timing (when the spark happens) can compensate for valves not being completely closed during combustion. for this reason, it is imperative that your cam timing is correct before setting the ignition (distributor) timing.
Yes to property set the ignition timing you need to jump the service connector which is under the passenger side glove box / kick panel
But to properly set the cam timing, you need fix it by taking off the belt
check out the service manual at

For the cam timing on a D16z6
You need to set the crank at TDC
remove timing belt
then align the marks on the cam gear to the pointers on the plastic cover on the head
reinstall timing belt and perform tightening procedure.
